Welcome to the WikiBlog! It's a freakish hybrid of Wiki and Blog, maintained by myself and a couple devoted readers. If you would like specific information added, you can request it on the message board, under the section called WikiChaos at the bottom of the index. You can find it here. We'll try to get it up as soon as we have time.

Biography

Kalika was Siete's first fledgling- though "experiment" might be a better term. She was changed around the time when all the higher Nyeusi were first playing around with sharing power with humans, which means c. 18 000 BCE.

In approximately 18,000 BCE, two important changes occured in Nyeusigrube:

1) One of the higher Nyeusi had her first child. Macht had a relation with a human widower and they had a child, named Vida. Refer to the history of the Vida line.

This widower was a powerful figure in his village. You might call him a shaman. He had no sons, but had planned to pass his teachings on to his daughter from his late wife- Kalika.

Kalika and Vida grew up together, as rivals. Shortly before their father's death (just old age, nothing nefarious here), Vida had a relationship with a man named Aric, who among other things inspired her to try to fight for the leadership position, and taught her how to hone her power and use it more precisely.

Which brings us to the other important fact I was going to note:

2) After Vida was born, one of the other higher Nyeusi began to play with the idea of sharing her power with human blood. As one of Zadre's descendents, she could not breed, but she did find a way to share anyway. Triste took in a boy named Aric, and over the course of many, many years, managed to train him as the first of what we now call Triste witches.

Yes, same Aric with whom Vida later had an affair.

So bring us back to that. Vida tries to pull a coup, and challenges Kalika. Needless to say, since Vida is Macht's child and has had some training in magic from Aric, she wins. Kalika is forced out of the village and into the desert, where it was expected that she would die.

She didn't die there. Instead, she looked to Siete to be a nifty person for *him* to try his hand at this whole power-sharing thing. He didn't know Triste's methods, so he made up his own, and ended up with a vampire... who hated Vida with a passion, and for the rest of that story, you will have to refer to the story of the origins of the Vida line.

As for the rest of Kalika's story, she wandered for a while. At one point, she fostered a human child named Taja, and in later years when Taja was an adult, Kalika attempted to change her as Siete had changed Kalika. It didn't work out, and Taja ended up as the very first bloodbond.

A little later, Kalika ran into -guess who- our favorite Triste, Aric. They had an interesting relationship for a number of years that rested mainly on the fact that they were among the only immortals on Earth, and Aric had discovered that vampires put off an energy that's great to feed on.

Over time, Aric became jealous of Taja's constant presence and precedence in Kalika's affection. Eventually, he fought with Taja (not exactly a fair fight) and would probably have killed her, except that Kalika returned. They fought.

Now, very powerful vampires and very powerful Tristes rarely fight face-to-face because it simply doesn't work well. Kalika managed to attack Aric in his larmaen, but succeceded in dragging him out of it and transporting them both to an underground cavern, which caused an unexpected power-flare from Aric, which caused many of the crystal formations in the surrounding stone to become saturated with Triste power (firestone), which meant Kalika then couldn't get them from the cave, where they both managed to starve to death.

Except vampires and Tristes don't really starve to death, they simply lose their mortal forms, after which they can be summoned by someone who either really knows what they're doing (Moira was summoned back once by Fala and Aubrey, for example, after she starved in such a manner) or by someone who really *doesn't* know what they're doing, such as Rene, protagonist of 0103.

But that is a story for another day.
